Kentucky.gov Web Portal Gets a Makeover
A new and improved version of Kentucky.gov, the commonwealth of Kentucky's official Web portal, was recently launched, making it easier than ever before to locate government information and services. The new site was revamped in early June with a clean, crisp visual presentation designed to improve the user experience for the site's visitors.
The redesigned portal features a fresh new look along with improved navigation and organization.
The redesigned site has several new features that will be appreciated by most visitors. First, RSS feeds are now standard in the agency newsroom. The RSS acronym stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication, which allows citizens to keep up with Kentucky state government news in the same way they monitor other news by using their favorite newsfeed reader. Navigation and location of government services is greatly improved by a redesigned and streamlined Services Section. Services are grouped into business services, citizen services, and by agency and category. The new categories provide a variety of ways to help visitors locate important business and citizen services more efficiently. Finally, the weather service is now customizable so visitors can see their local weather forcast without having to leave the site.
Kentucky.gov continues to set new records in the number of unique monthly visitors. The Kentucky.gov portal has experienced more than a 25 percent growth in unique visits since 2006. It features over one million pages of information, offering access to more than 300 interactive services and hundreds more that are not interactive. Two million-plus visits per month are regularly recorded.
