December's winter storms had a record number of people turning to Kentucky's 511 traffic and travel line to get information on road conditions. On December 23rd alone, 125,045 people called 511, while the Web site had 10 million hits on that day! At times, there were 300 simultaneous phone calls. The highest usage day before the recent storms was on February 16, 2003 when 34,931 calls were made to the line.
Information on both the phone line and Web site is current and updated 24/7 as conditions change.
