Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher Announces New Strategic Broadband Partner

Broadband Horizons Joins Initiative to Support Broadband over Power Lines and Wireless Internet Access Technologies

 

Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the addition of a new ConnectKentucky Partner to support his Prescription for Innovation plan to provide broadband (high-speed Internet) access to all Kentuckians by 2007.

 

According to Governor Fletcher, “the addition of Broadband Horizons to the ConnectKentucky partnership will further my administration’s objective to deliver community-by-community broadband planning and deployment.”

 

As part of its partnership with ConnectKentucky, Broadband Horizons has agreed to provide engineering services, deliver broadband network design and implementation plans for a number of Kentucky communities. Additionally, the company plans to establish a Kentucky office in order to better support the initiative.

 

Broadband Horizons was the first company in Texas, and one of a handful in the nation, to successfully launch broadband service over power lines, a technology commonly referred to as BPL. Today, Broadband Horizons is a leading provider of BPL and other wireless services to small and medium-sized communities throughout Texas and the United States.
